Who is I? (part 1/2)

Lets think back.

Nobody on this earth can remember arriving here, or the first 2 or 3 years that followed. There is no ‘Real’ evidence of your birth.

Ok your mum gave birth to you, but in your reality all you can do is rely on the fact that people tell you your mum gave birth to you and base this on the fact that you have seen this is how other people were born.

When we refer to ourselves we are talking about our consciousness, that voice that lives somewhere between our eyes and our brain. Its as if our body and our mind are two separate entities. ‘You’ are never fully in control, and this already shows you the separation. Our body tells us when we are hungry, when we should go to the toilet, when it wants to sleep among other things. We can override these feelings over time, but the fact we have to over ride and train our selves out of them is an interesting thought in itself.

I see it like our body is our vehicle and ‘we’, ‘me’, ‘you’ are somewhere between being the drivers of the vehicle and in the passenger seat. Infact we kind of go back and forth between the two when it suits us. When we are asleep we lazily slide over to the passenger seat and leave our body to deal with keeping the vehicle running as we rest. If you ever pass out it is your body doing all of the hard work between you losing ‘consciousness’ and gaining it again.

Our body is kind of like a close friend you grow to take for granted. You never really realise all of the amazing things your body does for you. You make stupid decisions and it is ultimately your body that has to make up for it, always there to pick up the pieces. Go out drinking alcohol all night and then feel a lil sorry for yourself the next day as your body sorts out the mess in your stomach.

Part 2 of this post coming soon. I didn’t want it to be too long. This was like the pre-text and the second post goes deeper into my thinking of this question.

Read part 2 here.
